An independent advocate and a platform for change.
We believe our society can always do better by its children and young people. Hagsmunasamtök Æskunnar grew out of a conviction that someone needs to hold the whole picture of children's circumstances, independently of government, and speak for them on the basis of facts.
We are an independent public-benefit organization, and we answer to no one but the interests we are sworn to protect. Our task is to bridge the gap between what is promised and what reaches children, whether decisions are made in Alþingi (the Icelandic parliament), in municipal councils, or inside the system itself. This is where professionalism and care meet, and neither is enough on its own.
More about how we work →How the organization is built and run.
To hold the system accountable, we have to set a good example ourselves. We believe in open ways of working and transparency in everything we do.
Board, team, and advisory council
A capable group of people steers the organization's strategy and day-to-day operations, and professionals review everything we publish before it appears.

Trust is our most important tool. This is where we publish information on funding, sponsors, and annual accounts, along with all formal governance documents (A2.1–A2.6).
